New Zealand Chinese Language(s) Week
Unlike other Language Weeks, this one was created by an organisation called the New Zealand Chinese Language Week Charitable Trust, with aims to promote business and political ties with the People's Republic of China, and focuses on only one Chinese language: Mandarin. This disrespects the long history of Chinese people in New Zealand, and their diversity of customs, cultures and languages.
A more accurate name for CLW is New Zealand Mandarin Language Week, as businesses, politicians, Government agencies, libraries and educational institutes have taken CLW at face value, and have bought in to Mandarin as being the only "Chinese language". So much for apologising for the Poll Tax.

I'm excited to announce that I have been selected to be one of the speakers at the 2019 Dragon Tails Conference in Wellington on 20-23 November 2019.
This year’s conference theme highlights the processes of translation and transformation that have been central to the histories of Chinese diaspora around the world.

New resource: Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision
After sending a query off to Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision Archive, one of the Archivists did a search for relevant materials.
