ONE of our countrymen having so far disregarded observances of decency, and the laws of sanitation, as to be found in dirty premises, with fruit stored under insanitary conditions, we respectfully protest that, such an objectionably conducted business having been found to exist, it is not just to assume a similar state of things in respect of the Chinese fruit stores as a whole. For our own part we invite the fullest inspection of our premises, claiming that they and their contents are kept in an up-to-date and wholesome condition, and that they will, at all times compare more than favourably with the best European conducted businesses. We ask the intelligent and fair-minded public of Wellington to see, and judge for themselves, and to refrain from condemning us for faults of which we have not been guilty. It has been our desire to conform in every respect to the strictest European ideas, and we court the fullest investigation and inspection of our system of dealing with fruit, knowing full well that we are quite on a par with, if not materially in advance of, our European competitors.
