Notwithstanding the new test for Far East aliens which New Zealand has imposed, the Chinese of this city are maintaining their old traditions of generosity to the public institutions, whatever changes may have been effected in their feelings towards the general public. A list read out at to-day's meeting of the Wellington Hospital Trustees showed that £111 8s had been voluntarily subscribed and forwarded by the Chinese of Wellington as a donation to the funds of the hospital. In all there were 162 subscribers, the leading two being Wong She and Yee Chong Wing, £5 5s each.
